Rebecca Lou started her career by singing a special song "The Light In Your Eyes" at her late grandmother Mary Pafume's 74th birthday party in February of 1998. She shocked the audience with her warmth and style. Her grandmother told Rebecca Lou to keep going with the singing, that she had been given a special gift which needed to be shared with others. With this fuel in her fire, Rebecca began learning many other songs. In the summer of 2000, Rebecca recorded her first demo, on which she recorded "The Cowboy's Sweetheart". This later became her 'trademark' song, launching her into the entertainment world. In the summer of 2001, Rebecca was invited to perform at St. Anthony's Feast in North Providence, RI, where she was a hit. Adding to her repertoire, she began singing "Honey, I'm Home" (S. Twain) during her performances, and with the help of her mother, added choreography to her music. She performed at Spring Lake in Burrillville, RI; and at West Warwick, RI she sang the National Anthem, in honor of the newly appointed Major of the West Warwick Police Dept. Then in August, Rebecca appeared at the Barnstable County Fair at Cape Cod, MA. On September 8th, 2001, Rebecca Lou was introduced to Susan and David England at the Elks in Smithfield, RI. The Englands were taken by her style urged Rebecca to keep performing. The following day, Rebecca performed at the R.I.C.H. High Hopes benefit for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, held at the Elks Lodge in Smithfield, RI. While in attendance, Rebecca and her parents joined R.I.C.H. and Rebecca Lou entered the Annual R.I.C.H. Talent Competition., 3 weeks away. Rebecca also performed with Dotty Zack on September 16th at the Country Jamboree at the VFW in Forestdale, RI. On September 30, 2001, Rebecca Lou competed in her first talent competition taking second place in two categories: traditional country vocalist, and entertainer for the female 13-16 year age group. On July 4th, 2002 Rebecca Lou sang on the Patriotic float in the Ancients and Horribles' parade in Glocester, RI, winning first place. On August 1, 2002 Rebecca Lou received a contract proposal from Capitol Management in Nashville to record in Nashville!!!! On August 6th, Rebecca Lou signed with Platinum Plus Records, Nashville, TN to record a 10 song CD, and is represented by Robert Metzgar, who has helped many other stars, including Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson get their start. From August 23 - 29, Rebecca Lou traveled to Nashville, where she was a hit in local clubs. Then she recorded a 10 song CD with Platinum Plus Records.
